A year on my (Cargo) Bike

So it’s been a fun-filled year of owning a cargo bike – here are some key numbers:

- Punctures = 0

- Breakdowns = 0

- Empty battery = 1 (50 metres from home)

- Christmas trees transported = 1

- Bookcases transported = 2

- Soakings in the rain = 4

- Longest ride in a day = 42 miles

- Total mileage = 1,802 miles / 2,900km (nearly the same as London to Istanbul)

- Hours saved not being in traffic jams = many

- Calories burnt = tens of thousands

- Carbon saved = a lot!

They’re not for everyone but it’s been a fantastic insight into how electrification can make a big difference to micro-mobility. It also shows that we need to get more people (including us professionals) to view e-bikes as a key part of the future transport mix...
